Steadfastness After Ramadan

Ramadan gave us many opportunities to reform, reflect, repent and refresh our faith for the onward journey of life and meeting with our Creator. The fast of Ramadan reminds one of the journey of life How a person threads cautiously throughout the day in Ramadan avoiding food, drink, and other acts that nullify or diminish his fast. This spirit of caution and consciousness when applied to our lives post Ramadan brings one to a new dimension and quality of life. A person begins to live a healthy wholesome and pure life of abstention from sin and negligence.

Like in Ramadan one begins to cut out the toxic effects of sin and vice from his body and imbues it with the pure nutrition and food of Taqwa, Zikr, Quran, good character, charity and other good works that nourish the spiritual existence. In this way a person breathes life into the soul and begins to live a real life.

Steadfastness requires individual and collective effort of ensuring that every Salah is performed with punctuality and the quality of Salah is enhanced with sincerity and concentration.

To continue with the spirit of fasting after Ramadan, fasting for six days in Shawwal is a rewarding exercise and brings a handsome reward of fasting for the entire year

Rasulullah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) said, “Whoever fasts in Ramadan and follows it with six days from Shawwal it is as if they fasted the entire year.” (Sahih Muslim)

May Allah Ta’ala grant us steadfastness.
