Love Not the World

Every difficulty being experienced by an individual, group or nation is indeed a direct consequence of his/her/their actions. Man seriously believes that his “rotten and vile” habits, utterances and actions have not hindered and deterred him from acquiring his “achievements”.

So blinded has man become, that he cannot see, hear or even feel the “hollowness and shallowness” of his “empty achievements”. Great nations in history were not destroyed because of any sickness or disease, but because of their “rotten, vile and corrupted” values and disobedient ways.

As a “quick-fix” many hasten to blame and denounce the political, economic, social and other factors as causes for their disastrous situations. Ah, but they fail to introspect, evaluate and diagnose the real causes for their devastation. Subsequently, they fail miserably to rectify their faulty value systems and work out a remedy for their crippling ills.

One of the main reasons for mankind’s pitiable plight is that his needs are completely driven by shameless and naked greed. There seems to be no satisfaction as endless hunger and gluttony shoots way above whatever the eye sees. Man’s mind has become ruined, polluted and convoluted by the sickening evil of, “… I want more, I want more …”

Sadly, this devilish desire for “more”, is limited ONLY to the perishable and temporary stuff of the world. Man’s mind is now configured to think and yearn ONLY of the scum and froth on earth … what a shame!

Surely Allah Ta’ala has decreed everyone’s provisions and we’ll get only that which has been destined for us. Peace and tranquility (raahat and suqoon) of the heart is rapidly diminishing by the day. Unfortunately, the resultant vacuum is being replaced by hardship, uneasiness, discomfort and hostility.
What else does one expect, when blind love of this “rotten, vile and corrupted” world gets stuffed into the heart?

Who then can be blamed, if the love for Allah Ta’ala and His beloved Nabi (Sallallahu alaihi wa Sallam) cannot find space in our hearts?

It simply cannot be, that love for the Dunya, coupled with an abiding love for Allah Ta’ala and His beloved Nabi (Sallalahu Alayhi Wasallam) dwell in one and the same heart. The fear of Allah Ta’ala (khauf) cannot nestle in the same heart when the “weeds of the world” invade and destroy it. The net outcome of such an offensive assault is that all things that are good and positive and are loved by Allah Ta’ala are reduced to nothing! Positive and Allah-pleasing values are compromised and the noble Sunnahs of Nabi (Sallalahu Alayhi Wasallam) are blown to smithereens.

All that we see today is wickedness, vile behaviour, bad character, immodesty, indecency, etc. and it’s rare to find good being spread and preached. The once proud and mighty Ummah of Nabi (Sallalahu Alayhi Wasallam) have been paralysed and weakened by the glitter and glamour of this world. This is nothing more than dirt and dust flung into our eyes. And, yet we believe it to be platinum, gold, diamond and silver.

Remember! Muslims “see through the Noor (light) of Allah” and are guided by the “Noor of the Sunnah”; and should never be deceived and mislead by the attractions of this world.
