In the name of NABI (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam)

The name most beloved, adored and cherished by Allah Ta’ala is Muhammad. This is because our beloved Nabi, Janãb-e-Muhammad, Mustupha (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam) is most beloved to Allah Ta’ala.

In Islam, a name has great influence upon a person. It is said that, on the day of Qiyamat, our Nabi (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam) will intercede for those persons whose names are Muhammad. Alhamdulillah, this great favour will only be because of the Mubarak (blessed) name of Muhammad. We are all well aware of the immense virtues of sending durood and salutations to our beloved Nabi (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam). Because of the exaltedness, greatness and majesty our beloved Nabi (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam), when writing his name then one should write the accompanying accolade, (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam) in full, and NOT as (SAW) or (SW), etc. The abbreviation of, (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam), is most inappropriate. Some scholars have gone so far as to pronounce that the abbreviation as impermissible. (Majma’ul Bihãr)

Yet other scholars have even ventured to say that it’s a sign of stinginess, i.e., to write on paper the name of our Nabi, without adding his praise and honour, like (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam). Similarly, when speaking about our Master, and leaving out the salutation to him, is being equally miserly and grudging.

Nabi Muhammad (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam) is reported to have said: -

“Whoever sends blessings upon me, Allah will send blessings upon him tenfold”. (Sahih Muslim)

As the most fortunate Ummatis of Nabi (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam), we don’t realise that we inherited the greatest of mankind (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam) on earth and in the hereafter --- Allah Ta’ala’s most beloved. How is it then, that we do not show the highest respect to him (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam), by writing and/or speaking a few additional words of praise, admiration and accolade.

That person who writes on a piece of paper the name of our beloved Leader (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam), will continue to receive untold rewards of sending Durood and Salaam to our Nabi (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam). Until such time that this piece of paper remains, his rewards will not cease to accrue.
