Can a ladies cut her own animal and what is the virtue?

Q: I want to find out should ladies cut their own animal and what is the virtue? Please explain.

A: It is permissible and for ladies to slaughter their own Qurbani animals if they are able to slaughter correctly and have the emotional strength to slaughter the animal (Fataawa Mahmoodiyyah Vol.26 Pg. 352).

The virtues are the same as that of the men. The Sahabah (Radiyallahu Anhum) asked Nabi (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam), “What is this Qurbani?” Nabi (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam) replied, “It is the Sunnat of your forefather Hazrat Ibrahim (Alayhis Salaam).” The Sahabah (Radiyallahu Anhum) then asked, “What is in there for O Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam)?” Nabi (Sallallahu alayhi Wasallam) replied, “For every hair on the there is a reward.” The Sahabah (Radiyallahu Anhum) asked, “What about wool?”. Nabi (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam) replied, “For every fibre of wool there is a reward.” (Mishkaat vol.1 Pg. 129).

However, women wishing to slaughter their own animals should do so if it is within the confines of their private yards. Females should refrain from going to farms or other public venues where the dictates of hijaab are trampled or compromised. This will only destroy the sanctity of the blessed day. The sacrifice of an animal should be done solely for the pleasure of Allah Ta’ala. It is not some form of entertainment. One should strictly refrain from taking pictures or filming the slaughter. May Allah Ta’ala protect us all from everything that is displeasing to Him and accept every person’s Qurbaani.
