Q: A safe with Zakat money was taken in a burglary. Must the Zakat monies stolen be discharged again?

A: In principle, the obligation of Zakat is only discharged once Qabdh (possession) takes place by the recipient or Wakeel (agent).

Therefore, in this case, the Zakat was not discharged. Accordingly, the amount for Zakat must be discharged again.
